Abstract

The study on systems analysis of multiple raw water sources operation E. Ming-Yang Wu Deputy Secretary General, Kaohsiung City Government, Taiwan Abstract Many communities, as they have grown, have developed additional sources of supply, so that now many large urban areas obtain their raw water from several sources, all of which operate together to meet the water demands. The objectives to be achieved in the operation of multiple raw water sources are the same as for a single water source: to supply water as cheaply and reliably as possible. Whether in single or multiple source development there is a difficult decision as to how much reliability to provide in the system. The objective of a decision maker is to determine joint operating rules for the control elements so as to obtain best overall system performance. In this paper economy and reliability of operation is evaluated by the use of mathematical models and Operations Research techniques. Whether random characteristics of operation ele
