Abstract

A model is developed for the simulation of bed variation of high-concentrated flood. Governing differential equations of the flow are defined. It is presented that characteristic equations of two-dimensional bed movement may be derived for estimation of the direction of bed change. Bed variation moves in the direction of subcritical flow. But it moves to opposite direction of supercritical flow. A new scheme is proposed to integrate the partial differential equation of solids conservation. The scheme reflects the direction of bed movement on choosing proper differences. The derived characteristic equations are used to determine the direction of bed change. The proposed scheme uses forward difference when bed varies toward upstream. But, when bed changes towa
