Abstract

The criterion proposed by Criminisi et al.^ for the location of transmissivity measures, aimed to the calibration of a groundwater quality management model, is extended to the location of water level measures. The location of either a new transmissivity measure or a new water level measure, according to the minimization of the coefficient of variation of the optimal costs, is tested on a 2D synthetic example. A strong reduction of the coefficient of variation has been found by changing the velocity field in the aquifer using one or more punping wells and using two sets of water level measures to condition the water level random fiel
