Abstract

An adapted algorithm is described to combine the conventional tracking method currently in use by the University of Dundee's satellite receiving station (programmed tracking) with received satellite data to improve satellite tracking accuracy. The new method is based upon the well-known simplex method which is adapted for use in conjunction with the satellite's orbital information to achieve this improved performance. The method was implemented and results of the tests performed are described. The results are discussed to explain the advantages and limitations of the new method. Finally conclusions are drawn and recommendations for Mure enhancement of the adapted method are made. 1 Introduction The University of Dundee's Natural Environment Research Cou
