Abstract

It is expected that the costs for development and maintenance of application system will be reduced and new businesses will emerge, if railway telecommunication networks are constructed by the Internet technology. However, the specifications of Internet technology including Internet Protocol (IP), which is a basic protocol for exchanging data packets, are originally designed by assuming application to fixed networks. This paper proposes a method to construct an IP-based intranet for railways including trains and other mobile subnetworks.
