Abstract

We describe the work done in the numerical simulation of passive stabilizer tanks for fishing vessels. We use Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) techniques to perform these calculations. This is mainly due to the flexibility of these methods to cope with great fluid gradients. The results of the simulations have been validated with experimental tests corresponding to real configurations. The results are promising but further work has yet to be done because we are not succeeding in getting some strong non linearities in the out of phase angles of some tanks heeling periods. 1 Introduction This work continues our first work regarding this kind of calculations to dimension passive stabilizer tanks[5]. These tanks are used successfully in fishing and cable-lay ing vessels to dampen their
