Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to investigate the problem of delayed active control, with reference to a s d.o.f. system controlled by a closed-loop linear algorithm and under the action of a dynamic forcing function. The exceeding of specified limits of the time gap elapsing between the sensors' reading of the excitation and / or of the response variables and the starting of the control actuation devices can, actually, vanify the control system effectiveness with reference to structural response attenuation or, even, lead quickly to system instability.
