Abstract

The paper deals with a new method to outline by means of using artificial intelligence techniques the optimal scheme of a railway station plan which can satisfy a known O/D traffic matrix. This method assumes as inputs of the choice model the matrix of line changes, that is the number of trains which must be scheduled from one line to another in a station and over a known interval of observation. It respects safety constraints and its aim is to obtain the maximum capacity for circulating train. Capacity must be calculated taking into account all the elements of the scheme of a station. A series of applications shows to what extent this method is valid and extendible and suitable to any other application. 1 Introduction The project of a scheme of a rai
