Abstract

Multiobjective optimum design of structures is very significant for enhancing the quality of stractural design. In this paper the development of multiobjective optimization and its application in engineering system are reviewed. Several effective computing methods for multiobjective optimization are discussed. Special emphasis is put on the multiobjective optimum design of structures, including the formation of mathematical models for practical problems, the selection of optimization methods and the operation of optimization processes. The truss structures are used as examples to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods. 1 Introduction Usually in the computer aided optimum design of engineering systems a scalar function, e. g. weight, cost, or efficiency, is considered as object
