Abstract

A sensitivity analysis of the transient free surface flow problem in porous media using boundary element method is presented. A rectangular earthen embankment is considered as a typical model for the sensitivity analysis. The aim of the sensitivity analysis is to determine the influence of various boundary element model parameters on the accuracy of the solution and field parameters on the transient free surface movement. Introduction Knowledge of the exact position of the free surface at various time intervals is very important in the design and maintenance of many hydraulic structures like earth dams, embankments, drainages, canals and wells. Transient free surface analysis in porous media is generally do
