The results are compared with the measured data of the water surface elevation and the accompanying water particle velocities before and at the breaking point. The numerical simulations using this model make clear that the vertical distribution of water particle velocities is closely related to the breaker type and the strong flow toward the wave crest excits plunging breaker and thrusts the overturning jet from the top of the crest.
