Abstract

The numerical method for the interaction problem between a rigid indenter and a circular elastic inclusion in an elastic half-plane is presented. The method of continuously distributed dislocations model is applied to the problem and the elastic inclusion is replaced with the continuous array of edge dislocations on the contour corresponding to the interfhce between the elastic inclusion and the matrix. The contact pressure between the indenter and the half-plane is represented by the continuous array of point forces. The boundary conditions at the interface around the inclusion and the contact surface of the indenter are reduced into a set of singular integral equations. Some typical examples are solved in order to demonstrate the rapid convergence and the effectiveness of the present method. 1 Introduction Near-surfa
