Factors affecting the integration of co-ordinate measuring machines in automated manufacturing cells N.B. Orchard Manufacturing Technology Department, © 2001 Rolls-Royce pic, United Kingdom Abstract When planning to use a co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM) in an automated manufacturing cell there are many factors that must be considered that are not a part of the normal stand-alone use of CMMs. Ignorance of these factors can seriously compromise the successful implementation of the whole cell.
