Abstract

This paper presents a description of the joined processes of burnishing and nitriding. The mathematical model is formulated allowing changes in the states of stress and deformation in a material to be followed under changing technological conditions. The elaborated model of the diffusion phenomenon for the nitriding process takes into account specific stages occurring in the surface layer of a treated material of complex structure. The results of numerical simulations of the diffusion are presented, in which the initial deformation state's influence on the diffusion process and on the surface layer is investigated, as well as the influence of the diffusion processes on the final residual stresses state in the surface layer.
