Abstract

A theory of electron beam deflection in travelling-wave cathode-ray tubes and a general theory of non-homogeneous travelling-wave deflecting systems has been developed. The properties of the super-wide band asymmetrical and symmetrical helical and meander retard and deflection systems have been investigated. The fundamentals of design of super-wide band deflection systems and signal channels for high sensitivity cathode-ray tubes were developed. The designed systems were applied in oscilloscopes having high sensitivity and a pass band up to 3-7 GHz. 1 Introduction Travelling-wave cathode-ray tubes (TWCRTs) are used in electronic oscilloscopes that are applied for the investigation of short single pulses and other fast phenomena.
