Abstract

The Municipality of Maribor has prepared a pre-investment study for the construction of a central wastewater treatment plant in Maribor. The approximate capacity is estimated to 190.000 PU. Due to high investment costs a three-stage approach is expected (primary stage, carbonaceous stage, phosphorus removal and nitrogen removal). The start of tertiary treatment should be harmonized with the actual primary production (eutrophication) in the old Drava river bed, hydroelectric diversion channel and lake Ptuj.
