Abstract

In this paper the authors present a developed analytical procedure for predicting the hydrodynamic load of submarine outfalls due to the simultaneous action of random waves and uniform current. Using Morison's equation, the transfer functions and the spectra of the horizontal and vertical component of hydrodynamic force on submarine outfalls are defined by the spectral analysis method. Tabain's wave spectrum for the Adriatic Sea conditions is used in the numerical example for the calculation of the wave-current force on a hypothetical outfall. 1 Introduction In the coastal regions of the Adriatic Sea, waste waters were traditionally dischargerd directly into the sea. Nowadays in the process of improving such solutions this practice is replaced by designing offshore outfalls - pipelines by which effluent is disposed deeply
