Abstract

Simulation model of sand bar crumbling by inconstant flood at river mouth S. Shioyama," S. Omshi& o Department of Physics, * Department of Civil Engineering, Science University of Tokyo, Faculty of Science and Yamoz&H AWo CzZy, The finite element method for solving shallow water flow problem and for trans- porting bed load on sand bar is presented. The standard Galerkin method is adopted for spatial discretization and the numerical integration scheme for the time variation is employed the second order Runge Kutta method. Our work consists of two parts. One is to analyze river flow including the critical flow on sand bar surface. The other is to simulate how sand bar crumbles when water floods ovei it. The accuracy of the simulation model is demonstrated on several numerical results for a simple model river and a real channel river.
