We developed a real-time method for serial fractal dimension estimation of consecutive overlapping small epochs of the EEG signal; it is a modification of the Higuchi method [10] which gives a good approximation to the fractal dimension for a small number of points. Additional analysis for establishing the optimal epoch and overlapping segment sizes was also performed. 1.
