Abstract

A methodology for the development of design aids for the prediction of floating breakwater performance is presented. A case history demonstrates the usefulness of these techniques. A discussion of the study results, as well as conclusions and recommendations for future work, is included. 1.0 Introduction Current environmental and financial restrictions on marina developments dictate that alternatives to traditional fixed rubble-mound and caisson breakwaters are required. The most common solution is the Floating Breakwater. This concept utilizes various wave attenuation mechanisms to reflect, dissipate and/or transform incident wave energy. Floating breakwaters can act a
