Abstract

Novel oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) copper alloys were synthesised by mechanical alloying (MA) at low temperature (cryomilling) and subsequent consolidation via hot pressing in a protective argon atmosphere. In the present study the deformation behaviour of ODS copper with ultra-fine-grained (UFG) structure prepared by MA of pure copper powder and 3 vol.% of incoherent oxide particles, Yttria and Ceria, was examined in a wide temperature range at different deformation rates. The microstructure of UFG ODS copper materials with high yield strength at room temperature was examined by means of highresolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM).
