Abstract

In the modem product development process, engineering analysis of components and assemblies is completed through the use of tools that do FEA, CFD, kinematicsldynamics, crash simulation, etc. The skills necessary to build these types of models are still limited to a few experienced analytical engineers in an organization. Those engineers should be able to fully identify and understand load paths, boundary conditions, and the intricacies of the modeling software. To empower the non-expert engineer to perfonn the analysis, a web-based approach is proposed to encapsulate the knowledge and skill of the analytical engineer in tool familiar to all engineers. Currently, ArvinMeritor is using custom websites on the corporate intranet as interfaces between automated analysis scripts and users with no specialized analysis tools or training.
