Abstract

Modern computer assistance can significantly contribute towards a more efficient performance of the numerous tasks underlying todays train operation management. Concept and development of such computer-aided systems are subject to special requirements which will be discussed for the case of train monitoring and control centers. The resulting increase in efficiency and profitability considerably depends on the detained knowledge of the specific application as well as on the methodic approach. The train operation involves various groups of persons with quite different individual tasks. These individual tasks range from the planning of the supply via train arrangements, running the trains, routing, surveying punctuality up to passenger information.
