Abstract

Model simulation of damage pattern and response of multi-storeyed RCC framed structure subjected to ground shock H.Lai, M.S. Bola and V.S.Sethi Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory, Chandigarh-!60020, India Abstract The paper discusses the application of modeling theory to scaled model of RCC framed multi-storeyed buildings for interpreting the response of prototype buildings. The technique of dimensional analysis has been used to determine the similitude requirements for the structure geometry, structure material properties, loading parameters and structure response. The geometrically similar three storeyed and six storeyed RCC framed buildings with brick infils to one third scale were constructed and loaded with suitable weights at different floors for compensating gravitational stresses. These models were repeatedly subjected to ground shock of increasing amplitude by detonating high explosive TNT charges of weight 5 kg to 100 kg at optimum depth of burst at varied stand
