Abstract

A building with TLD to earthquake Y-H. Chen', W-S. Hwang^ & C-H. The water sloshing of TLD and the vibrational reduction of the building are highly emphasized and intensively studied. The time-step space-state vector is applied to calculate the transient response of the building, and in the same time step, the boundary element method with the second-order Taylor series expansion and Lagrangian description is utilized to solve the non-linear water-sloshing problem. The present work has been successfully employed for the calculation of the free surface movement of TLD and the dynamic response of the building to a recorded earthquake, such as the Chi-Chi earthquake (Taiwan, 1999).
