Abstract

The movement of a ship in a port water area is bound with the possibility of the occurrence of an accident, which may cause various losses. The estimation of ship movement safety necessitates the application of suitable measures. The report presents risk as a combination of accident probability and its effects. Three methods of the application of risk have been described (absolute value, constant risk and relative increase). A practical example has been given for the estimation of manoeuvring safety of a ship in the port water area. 1.
