Abstract

Europe is developing strategies for sustainable development of transport, to comply with long-term environmental objectives. The transport sector would have to integrate environmental concerns. Which means implementing measures to reduce the impact of transport upon environment and to reduce the amount of transport. The concept of an environmentally sustainable transport system has been launched, within a perspective of 25 to 30 years. When accomplished, this means that transport is performed without being a burden to the environment: sustainable transport in a sustainable society. For some problems we know roughly the task.
