Abstract

Urban waste removal management presents peculiar characteristics of complex systems due to the inherent complexity of the urban road map, the relative pattern optimisation and the management of the waste disposal lorries units. To improve waste removal network quality, it is designed a preliminary optimisation procedure of waste disposal lorry patterns along the urban map to reduce pattern lengths, minimising servicing times but covering the entire town and improving the opportunity to produce biomass for generating electricity and heat. The procedure improves the quality of the waste removal network. Based upon initial conditions, complex urban network system analysis is processed to reach the optimisation goals. The developed urban waste management model is designed
