Abstract

This paper presents the reinforcement work carried out in San Francesco Church in Cuneo: it is a steel structural work designed to realize two categories of intervention; one provisional to guarantee the building's safety and the other one for the permanent reinforcement. The numeric model of the church's naves and pillars which were out of plumb has been realized; the prestressing action of chains and metallic spatial prop of strengthening has been simulated in the computer model. The numeric model has also allowed to simulate the lightening action of pillars by means of steel device of shoring operated by twelve hydraulic jacks. 1 Introduction The case study is related t
