Abstract

The paper presents requirements that must be fulfilled on dynamic position (dp) vessels. The analysis covers the example in which one of two sides of the supply system has failed and also loss of some generators, bow tunnel thrusters and azimuth stern thrusters. The failures that have a direct influence on maintaining the position of the vessel are being considered. The ways of assuring the continuous work of the vessel in dp system has been presented. It has also shown one of the engine-room systems and presented analysis of impact of its components and structure on "dp" operation reliability. In the paper, you can find some examples of the failures of different dp vessel systems and the way they work during the failures. It presents some statistical data about failures on dp vessels in 1994. 1. Introduction It was presented the a
