Abstract

In the present paper a numerical study is conducted on a sandwich panel of a typical communication satellite (ARTEMIS), aiming to investigate the feasibility of vibration reduction by means of piezo elements. A process of optimization of the placement of piezoelectric actuators and sensors has been conducted on the satellite's sandwich panel. Several analysis cases have been considered in the study, by varying the number of sensors/actuators (4 or 6) and of the modes under control (3, 6 or 8). In order to verify the quality of the optimization process several numerical simulations have been performed by varying the sensors/actuators location and feedback gain. 1 Introduction
