Abstract

Approximate analysis models based on the analytical solution M.B. Fuchs, G. Maslovitz Department of Solid Mechanics, Materials and FacWfy o/ Engmeermg, Te/ ABSTRACT The analytical solution of the linear structural problem is applied to gener- ate approximate analysis models. Although the exact expression is too long to be employed efficiently its construct is used to generate explicit models for the internal forces who are of the same form as the exact solution. Two alternatives are presented. In both cases the model is exact along all the u- nivariate lines in the design space. A first model is created by using subsets of the exact expression. Although this approach gives excellent results it is plagued by linear dependency problems in selecting appropriate subsets. A second model which can be viewed as a ratio of two linear Taylor series is equally efficient but it needs some tuning to make it homogeneous of zero order.
