Abstract

The influence of the temporal nonstationarity in the frequency content of the ground motion on the statistical response of linear and nonlinear systems is analyzed. For this purpose, several plane frames are excited with a narrow-band motion represented by two different nonstationary models: the first corresponds to an oscillatory stochastic process, and the second to an amplitud-and-frequency modulated process. The statistical responses of the frames are calculated by means of the equivalent linearization approach.
