Abstract

This paper presents a Boundary Element formulation for the transient Stokes equations in both the internal and external domains, where the well known closed form fundamental solution to the steady Stokes equations can be utilised, and the time derivative, appearing as a domain integral is taken to the boundary via the Dual Reciprocity Method. In order to satisfy the required asymptotic behaviour at infinity in the case of an unbounded do- main, special considerations have been taken into account in the formulation of the method. The advantage of this approach is that both the internal and external domains can be approximated by the same fundamental solution, thus providing a much simpler and more versat
