Abstract

Iterative methods for diffusion-convective problems by boundary-domain integral method M. Hribersek, L. Skerget Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Maribor, Maribor, Slovenia ABSTRACT The paper deals with iterative solution of systems of linear equations arising in viscous flow computation by Boundary-Domain Integral Method (BDIM). Behaviour of iterative methods for diffusion-convective transport phenom- ena is the main topic of investigation. Subdomain technique is applied to BDIM to improve sparsity of system matrices. Different versions of conju- gate gradient method - conjugate gradients squared (CGS) and its variant bi-CGSTAB - are compared with Gauss elimination direct method. A spe- cial attention is given to appropriate preconditioning of matrices. This is done by the use of Jacobi and incomplete LU preconditioned (ILU). An- other, more efficient ILU procedure in form of block-ILU preconditioner is introduced for flow kinetics. For very sparse matrices indirect a
