Abstract

The main goal of this paper, is to formulate in a general form the shape optimization problem of 2D simply- and multiply connected domains, by linking a geometric modeler (shape definition) of the machine or structural component using Bezier curves, stress analysis by the Fictitious Stress Method, and the analytical direct sensitivity analysis, which is related to the analysis method. The design objective is to minimize a maximum effective stress. The numerical optimization used is the Sequential Linear Programming. 1 Introduction Besides weight (volume) minimization, minimizing stress concentration around notches (fillets, holes, cut-outs, etc.) in stress fields is an important problem in engineering design. One way of the stress minimization is to c
