Abstract

It is frequently important in engineering to analyze complicated acoustic problems with a large number of small holes at an interface boundary. The boundary element method could be applied to such problems, but it would require a huge number of boundary elements and hence a tremendous amount of CPU time to obtain accurate computational results. To circumvent this difficulty, the present paper proposes a new boundary element method which can be applied effectively to such 3-D acoustic problems with small circular holes on the interface boundary. A simple example is computed by the proposed boundary element method to demonstrate its usefulness. 1 Introduction Even if the boundary element method is applied to field problems with complicated configurations,
