Abstract

A boundary element method is derived for solving the class of boundary value problems governing plane thermoelastic deformations of isotropic elastic mate- rials. The method involves boundary integrals only and it provides a simple boundary element procedure for a wide class of problems which do not involve inertia or coupling effects. Numerical results are given for some specific problems in order to assess the effectiveness of the method. 1 Introduction The aim of this paper is to provide a boundary integral formulation for the solution of boundary value problems arising in plane thermoelastic defor- mations of isotropic elastic materials. A number of authors have considered problems of this type (see fo
