Abstract

Numerical analysis of cooling conditions in continuous casting process B. Mochnacki, A. Kapusta Silesian Technical University, Gliwice, Poland ABSTRACT The mathematical description of continuous casting process (treated as a certain moving boundary problem) is discussed at the same time the rectangular continuous casting produced by radial continuous casting is analyzed. The adequate mathematical model constitutes a basis for numerical algorithm construction - in particular the FDM for non-linear parabolic equations is used. In the final part of the paper the examples of numerical solutions are shown. INTRODUCTION Continuous casting technology (CCT) is one of the most effective methods of steel ingots production. It is said that diffusion and progress of conti-casting was caused by such advantages of this technology as a material economy, and improvement of its structure, the possibilities of process automation and mechanization and the increase of producti
