Abstract

A boundary element formulation, which does not require domain discretiza- tion and allows a single-region analysis, is presented for transient thermoelas- tic crack problems. The formulation is based on the dual boundary element method; temperature and displacement equations are used on one crack surface, flux and traction equations on the other. Time is modelled with linear time elements. Stress intensity factors are calculated using the path independent ./-integral.
