Abstract

An implementation of the Substructure Deletion Method to synthesize vertical dynamic compliance functions for strip foundations embedded in horizontally stratified soil profiles is reported. The method employs surface Green's functions and a direct BE scheme. Numerical results for three soil profiles and various embedment ratios are presented. 1 Introduction The direct version of the Boundary Element Method (DBEM) has been successfully applied to solve Dynamic Soil-Structure Interaction (DSSI) problems for 2D and 3D cases as well as for stationary and transient problems. There are at least two distinct ways in which the DBEM may be formulated. The first formulation employs the so called full space Green's function (FSGF) as an auxiliary elastod
