Abstract

This paper discusses an extension of the Laplace Transform Dual Reci- procity Method (LTDRM) to solving those non-linear transient heat con- duction problems in which material properties are temperature-dependent. Two formulations, with and without utilising the Kirchhoff transformation, will be presented. The extension is based on the construction of an iterative scheme which linearises the non-linear terms in such a way that the Laplace transform can be applied and consequently results in an integral equation involving boundary integrals only. Since time variable is now temporarily removed from the problem, obtaining a solution at any observation time can be achieved with a single time step; the computational cost can therefore be greatly reduced. With some preliminary results being discussed in the paper, two heat conduct
