Abstract

Hursley Park, Winchester, Hampshire, UK ABSTRACT This paper discusses some aspects of the development process used in a recent project on IBM's CICS/ESA transaction processing product, from the perspective of a member of the development team, with some reflections on why it is felt that this produced a high quality result. Although the process that was used broadly followed the standard CICS/ESA development process - with, for example, inspections at all stages - the project had a number of special considerations: - we had to be satisfied with the correctness of the design and implementation within a concurrent environment - good performance was of paramount importance - a proportion of the code used authorized system services, and this could not be allowed to compromise the integrity of t
