Levene Department of Computer Science, Open University, Walton ABSTRACT There are a large number of problems that arise when implementing a software quality system—problems which can be addressed during training. We describe these problems, and also outline the approach adopted by Network Consultants in alleviating them through training and education. INTRODUCTION Network Consultants are a company who provide training and consultancy in Information Technology. Over the last five years we have been involved with a number of large companies such as British Aerospace, British Telecom and Shell International in the search for high- quality software quality management systems. This article describes our approach, and concentrates on some of the issues that we think important when training and educating a work force so that eventually they will achieve a quality system certified to ISO 9000.
