Abstract

Nowadays, the construction of a Geographical Information System on a commercial package takes up a great deal of time and resources. However, the distribution of such an application can be more expensive than the construction because of the need to distribute the commercial package with the application. Usually, commercial packages cover this lack by providing reduced versions from their powerful applications. With the IDR Visor Map we have developed a low-cost and at the same time powerful GIS which allows us to distribute GIS applications on a friendly workbench (Windows NT and 95).
