Abstract

This paper describes an Object-Orientation and Rule Inferencing approach to control the Boundary Element Mesh generation in a Dam- age Tolerance Design System. A general inference engine is used to apply a set of rules, describing how the Boundary Element mesh must be generated, to a database, containing information that defines the structural configuration. 1 Introduction Fatigue crack propagation is of great importance in aircraft damage tolerance assessment.
