Abstract

A numerical solution of heat transfer in intensive cooling processes under film boiling conditions G.H.D. Muhlenbruch, H. Boye & J. Schmidt Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics, 'Otto von Guericke' University of Magdeburg, D-39016 Magdeburg, Germany ABSTRACT The heat transfer in an asymmetric annular flow under film boiling conditions will be investigated at the example of the hot rolled wire cooling. The heat transfer could be increased significantly by using turbulence bushes, which were optimised in experiments. In order to describe the heat transfer in the intensive cooling tube, a model was developed founded on extensive experiments. This model bases on the description of the turbulent flow by a k, s, u V - model and the numerical solution of the differential equation system, which describes the energy transport in the wire and the annulus. The high values of the turbulent heat conductivity and the high temperature gradient at the wire surface demand a high performance of
