Abstract

This paper presents a computer model to simulate the behaviour of shear wall test specimens subjected to a combination of axial and lateral forces. Data obtained from shear wall test specimens are compared with analytical results of the simulator. The model covers a wide range of different geometry and design of shear walls and concrete characteristics, and takes into account the recent improvements in non-linear finite element modelling of reinforced concrete structures. It is found that the model predicts accurately the ultimate load and deformation of shear walls regardless of strength of concrete and shape and design of specimens. The analytical results show the effect of various des
