Abstract

The study was intended to the theoretical and experimental investigations of the behaviour of liquid distribution in the columns with regular packing. The mathematical model of the liquid distribution based on the random walk methods has been developed. Application of these methods gave a possibility to describe the liquid distribution with allowance for the packing non-uniformity and influence of column walls. Liquid distribution in the column with regular shelf packing was investigated on the pilot plant. A good match between results of theoretical investigations and natural experiments has been obtained. Evaluation of the liquid distribution influence on the mass transfer intensity in packed columns has also been obtained. The expressions can be applied to the design of packings and sprayer units with allowance for the d i n g phenomena.
