Abstract

The fatigue test of notched specimens under plane bending with the control of bending deflection have been conducted to investigate the cyclic elastic-plastic strain behaviour near a notch by using strain gauges From the cyclic strains measured, two types of cyclic strain behaviours near notch roots have been found: in one type named as IS (Increasing Strain with an increasing cycles). the strain near notches increases with an increasing cycles, and in other type named as CS (Constant Strain with an increasing cycles), the strain near notches remains constant with an increasing cycles. In case IS, the strain range at a notch root remains nearly constant with an increasing cycles until a proper number o
